     Catherine Adams, DVM
Dr. Catherine Adams has been a staff veterinarian at Pet Poison Helpline (PPH) and SafetyCall International since 2007. She received a BA in Music from Hamline University, then later received her BS and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Minnesota. She has been in small animal clinical practice for 22 years with an interest in feline internal medicine and toxicology. Dr. Adams participated in the veterinary Envirovet program in 1992. She is currently working at PPH part-time, as well as at a Minneapolis small animal practice, where she has been on the veterinary staff since 1993. Dr. Adams lives in the Twin Cities with her husband and 3.5 cats (the clinic cat comes home for the weekends...).

     Catherine Angle, BA, DVM, MPH
Dr. Catherine Angle has been a staff veterinarian at Pet Poison Helpline (PPH) since 2007. She obtained her BA from Hamline University, and then received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and Masters Degree in Public Health Practice from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Angle also completed a rotating small animal medicine and surgery internship at Animal Medical Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina. After her internship, she worked at an emergency and internal medicine referral center in Minnesota. Currently, Dr. Angle divides her time between working at PPH and a busy referral practice in the Twin Cities, where she is a general practitioner and emergency veterinarian.

     Libby Biggs, DVM
Dr. Libby Biggs was raised in rural Missouri on a cattle farm. She received her BS in Nursing from the University of Missouri in 1985. Her nursing career included ICU, emergency, and psychiatric disciplines. Dr. Biggs then returned to the University of Missouri for her DVM which she received in 1993. After veterinary school, she relocated to North Carolina and worked as an associate veterinarian in a mixed animal practice. In 1997, Libby found a new career path with the veterinary pharmaceutical industry. She is delighted to join SafetyCall in 2010. Dr. Biggs enjoys caring for her family, which encompasses two children, a husband, a pony, a horse, two dogs, four cats, and assorted fish.

     Ahna Brutlag, DVM
Dr. Ahna Brutlag is the Assistant Director of Veterinary Services with SafetyCall International and Pet Poison Helpline (PPH) and has been with the organization for four years. She received her veterinary degree from the University of Minnesota. Currently, she is preparing for board-certification through the American Board of Veterinary Toxicology (ABVT) by dividing her time between PPH and the completion of a Master’s degree in Toxicology through the University of Minnesota. Dr. Brutlag has authored multiple textbook chapters and has lectured throughout the United States in the field of small animal toxicology. The primary focus of her publications and presentations include rodenticide toxicity, toxic plants, common pharmaceutical poisonings, and the safety of household products.
 
     Dean Filandrinos, PharmD, MS
Dr. Filandrinos is Vice President of Operations and a Senior Clinical Toxicologist with SafetyCall™ International. Dr. Filandrinos served as Associate Director and a Senior Clinical Toxicologist at PROSAR International Poison Center and as Clinical Toxicologist and Director of Professional Education of the Minnesota Regional Poison Center and Hazard Information Services. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy where he is co-assistant director of the course in Clinical Toxicology as well as co-assistant director in the College’s Internet-based Clinical Toxicology course. Dr. Filandrinos has also directed experiential programs in clinical toxicology for students in pharmacy and medicine since 1992. He received his BS degree in Zoology from Eastern Illinois University in 1985 and a Master of Science degree in Zoology in 1986. Dr. Filandrinos received a BS degree in Pharmacy in 1991 and then his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree in 1992. He completed a post-doctoral residency in Clinical Toxicology with the University of Minnesota and the Minnesota Regional Poison Center at the former St. Paul Ramsey Medical Center in 1993. He has presented numerous scientific abstracts and invited presentations as well as published many scientific abstracts and articles. Dr. Filandrinos is also Associate International Editor for the Internet Journal of Medical Toxicology. Dr. Filandrinos has served as an expert witness in a variety of legal cases including medical malpractice and product liability. He is a Certified Specialist in Poison Information and holds a license to practice pharmacy in Minnesota.

     John Gualtieri, PharmD, MT (ASCP)
Dr. Gualtieri is Vice President of Drug Safety & Pharmacovigilance and a Senior Clinical Toxicologist with SafetyCall™ International. Dr. Gualtieri served as Clinical Toxicologist and Director of Experiential Programs at the Minnesota Regional Poison Center and Hazard Information Services and directed the Drug Safety & Pharmacovigilance Program and was a Senior Clinical Toxicologist at PROSAR International Poison Center. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the department of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy where he is co-assistant director of the course in Clinical Toxicology. Dr. Gualtieri has also directed experiential programs in clinical toxicology for students in pharmacy and medicine since 1994. He received his BS in Medical Technology from Marquette University in 1987 and joined the staff of the Medical College of Wisconsin, Department of Anesthesiology serving as a Research Chemist in the HPLC and GLC analytical laboratories. He also received his board certification with the American Society of Clinical Pathology in 1987. In 1989, Dr. Gualtieri accepted a position as a Medical Technologist at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN. Dr. Gualtieri received a BS degree in Pharmacy in 1992 and then his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree in 1993. He completed a post-doctoral residency in Clinical Toxicology with the University of Minnesota and the Minnesota Regional Poison Center at the former St. Paul Ramsey Medical Center in 1994. He has presented numerous scientific abstracts and invited presentations as well as published many scientific abstracts and articles. He is a Certified Specialist in Poison Information and holds a license to practice pharmacy in Minnesota. His primary research interests include drugs of abuse, volatile inhalant abuse, toxicology of glycol ethers, forensic toxicology, and the analytical toxicology of various drugs and chemicals compounds. He has particular expertise in drug safety and pharmacovigilance as he has been the primary individual responsible for the design and implementation of drug and medical device safety surveillance programs for multiple institutions within the health care industry.

     Heather Handley, DVM
Dr. Heather Handley is a staff veterinarian for SafetyCall International and Pet Poison Helpline (PPH) and has been with the organization since 2005. She received a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Minnesota, with a special interest in small animals and exotic pets. Currently, she shares her time with a small animal general practice clinic.

     Lynn Hovda, RPh, DVM, MS, DACVIM
Dr. Lynn Hovda is the Director of Veterinary Services with SafetyCall International and Pet Poison Helpline (PPH). She is also an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine and the Chief Commission Veterinarian for the Minnesota Racing Commission. Dr. Hovda received a BS in Pharmacy from North Dakota State University and a BS in Veterinary Science from the University of Minnesota. She received a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Minnesota and followed this with an internship at the University of Georgia and a three year internal medicine residency at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Hovda received a Master of Science in Veterinary Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and was awarded board certification by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (DACVIM). She holds Pharmacy Board licensure in Minnesota and North Dakota and Veterinary Board licensure in Minnesota, North Dakota, Iowa, and Wisconsin. She has published scientific articles and book chapters, presented scientific abstracts and invited presentations, and participated in numerous educational proceedings for lay groups. She holds memberships in several professional, scientific, and civic organizations and has served on committees for the American Veterinarian Medical Association, American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, American Association of Poison Control Centers, Association of Racing Commissioners, and the American Association of Racing Veterinarians. Her educational and research interests include plants and plant related toxicities, pharmaceuticals and pharmacokinetics, prevention and treatment of pesticide and farm chemical related exposures, and race track associated injuries. When not working, Dr. Hovda lives in rural Minnesota with her family, nine or ten horses, five cats, three dogs, and a herd of goldfish.

     Nancy Gruber, DVM
Dr Nancy Gruber has been a staff veterinarian at Pet Poison Helpline (PPH) since 2007.  She received her BS and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Minnesota. Prior to becoming a veterinarian, she achieved her Associates in Veterinary Technology from Manor College and worked as a Certified Veterinary Technician in a mixed animal/emergency practice in her home state of Pennsylvania.  During that time she also contributed to the glossary of the text book Clinical Anatomy & Physiology for Veterinary Technicians.  Dr Gruber has worked predominantly in emergency medicine as both a CVT and DVM and continues to work in practice with dogs, cats, exotics, and horses.  She also works for the Minnesota Racing Commission in both Thoroughbred and Standardbred racing.  Her extensive menagerie includes an Ornate box turtle, two cockatiels, a ferret, a hedgehog, a cat, a husband and three Labrador retrievers who keep her ever focused on matters of toxicology.

    Daniel E. Keyler, PharmD
Dr. Daniel E. Keyler is a clinical toxicologist who specializes in snake, spider, and scorpion envenomations, and a consultant for PPH. He is on faculty within the Division of Clinical Pharmacology, Department of Medicine at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. He is also the co-director of Toxicology Research at the Minneapolis Medical Research Foundation and a professor within Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Minnesota. He received his BS from Purdue University and his Doctorate in clinical pharmacy from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Keyler has published over 100 articles in multiple journals and has authored multiple book chapters. He has been actively involved with venomous snakes for over 35 years and consulted on the treatment of over 200 venomous snakebite cases. Additionally, he has served as the Chair of the Envenomations Group within the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology from 2002-07 and is a member of the Antivenom Index Medical Advisory Committee, as well as a member of the Federal Committee for the conservation of venomous snakes. In addition to Pet Poison Helpline, his consulting clientele include the USA Armed Forces, Department of Defense and multiple national and international zoos.

     Rick Kingston, PharmD
Dr. Kingston brings 28 years professional experience to SafetyCall™ International in the areas of clinical toxicology and pharmacology, poison control, product post-market surveillance, and drug and dietary supplement safety. Previously, Dr. Kingston served as vice president and co-founder of poison center services for PROSAR Inc. as well as co-founder and former Director of the Minnesota Regional Poison Center and its affiliated industry toxicology programs at St. Paul Ramsey Medical Center, in St. Paul, MN. He has 23 years of critical care toxicology experience gained from practice in a university-affiliated Level One Trauma Center. He holds a joint academic appointment with the University of Minnesota at the rank of full Professor in the Department of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology within the College of Pharmacy. Dr. Kingston completed his BS in Pharmacy degree at the University of New Mexico, his Doctorate in Clinical Pharmacy at the University of Minnesota, and a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in clinical toxicology and pharmacokinetics at Ramsey Medical Center and the University of Minnesota. In his academic capacity he serves in multiple areas related to his practice focus of “clinical toxicology and product safety."

Dr. Kingston continues academic and scholarly activities where his research efforts have resulted in 40 scientific abstracts, 20 publications, 18 confidential peer-reviewed technical papers, and 3 textbook chapters. He is co-editor for an upcoming text on the clinical pharmacology and toxicology of dietary supplements. He is a frequent invited lecturer and/or visiting professor where he has delivered more than 200 presentations in national and international venues related to his practice. His research and practice interests coincide with SafetyCall ™ International initiatives for corporate clients and include a focus on injury prevention, the epidemiology of toxicology related incident data, product safety and related regulatory affairs, and specific advances in the clinical management of patients being treated or evaluated for drug, toxin or consumer product exposures.

     Justine Lee, DVM, DACVECC
Dr. Justine Lee is a board-certified emergency critical care veterinary specialist, and is the Associate Director of Veterinary Services at Pet Poison Helpline (PPH). She joined PPH in 2008. Previously, she was on faculty at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Lee graduated from Virginia Tech with a BS in Animal Sciences, and then obtained her veterinary degree at Cornell University. She pursued her internship at Angell Memorial Animal Hospital, which is affiliated with the MSPCA. In addition, she has also completed an emergency fellowship and residency at the University of Pennsylvania. Currently, she is 1 of approximately 240 board certified veterinary specialists world wide in emergency medicine and critical care, and is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (DACVECC). Dr. Lee has been published in numerous veterinary journals, including the Journal of American Veterinary Medical Association, the Journal of Veterinary Emergency Critical Care, and the Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine. She has also published several veterinary book chapters, and has been aired on radio and television to promote preventative medicine, animal health, and the overall well-being of pets. She is the author of two humorous pet reference books (Random House 2008) entitled It’s a Dog’s Life… but It’s Your Carpet and It’s a Cat’s World… You Just Live In It. Dr. Lee is a contributing author for Prevention magazine and various other breed newsletters. She lectures throughout the world on emergency and critical care. She has a rescued pit bull terrier, two cats, and a huge array of plants (non-poisonous, of course!).

     Gary D. Osweiler, DVM, MS, PhD, DABVT
Dr. Gary Osweiler is a board-certified veterinary toxicologist and a consultant for PPH. He served as the director of the Iowa State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory from 1994-2007 and currently remains on faculty as a professor in both the veterinary and graduate school. Dr. Osweiler has authored or co-authored three books, contributed chapters to five additional books and has authored or co-authored more than 100 publications and presentations in professional or scientific journals. He is presently consulting editor in toxicology for the Five Minute Veterinary Consult Clinical Companion, along with Drs. Brutlag, Hovda, and Lee. Dr. Osweiler is a past chair of the Veterinary Medicine Advisory Committee of the Center for Veterinary Medicine, FDA and also served as a charter member of the  National Organic Standards Board, a group directly advisory to USDA in implementing the Organic Foods Production Act. He is past president of the American Board of Veterinary Toxicology and the American Academy of Veterinary and Comparative Toxicology. At present he is serving as a consultant to FDA Center for Veterinary Medicine regarding clinical poisoning issues in large animals.
 
     Katie Peterson, DVM
Dr. Katie Peterson has been with Pet Poison Helpline (PPH) since 2009.  She received her BS degree and her DVM from the University of Minnesota.  She completed an emergency and critical care internship at the Animal Emergency Center in Glendale, WI.  She is currently completing a directed internship at the University of Minnesota in emergency and critical care medicine.  Her primary interests are in emergency triage and stabilization.  Dr. Peterson and her husband live in the Twin Cities area and share a home with 2 black labs and 4 cats.

     Amanda Poldoski, DVM
Dr. Amanda Poldoski has been a staff veterinarian with Pet Poison Helpline (PPH) and SafetyCall International since 2009. She received her BS and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Minnesota. Currently, she divides her time between working at PPH and a small animal clinic a a general practioner. Dr. Poldoski resides in the Twin Cities area with her husband and 2 polydactyl (extra-toed!) cats..

     Leo Sioris, PharmD, CEO
Dr. Leo Sioris is the CEO and co-founder of SafetyCall™ International. He also co-founded and served as Vice President of the PROSAR International Poison Center and was co-founder and former Director of the Minnesota Regional Poison Center and Hazard Information Services. He is a full Professor in the Department of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology at the College of Pharmacy at University of Minnesota. He is Course Director of Clinical Toxicology and preceptor of numerous residents and fellows in clinical toxicology. Dr. Sioris received a BS in Pharmacy with Distinction from the University of Minnesota in 1975 and his Doctorate in Clinical Pharmacy from Minnesota in 1977. He completed post-graduate training in Clinical Toxicology with the Hennepin Poison Center and the Department of Emergency Medicine, Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) and the Minneapolis Medical Research Foundation. Dr. Sioris has presented numerous scientific abstracts and invited presentations, as well as published numerous scientific articles, acted as a peer reviewer, and has been the recipient of numerous grants and contracts. His research interests include clinical toxicology, forensic toxicology, caustics, epidemiology of household and occupational exposures, as well as modeling of the delivery of poison center, post-market surveillance and regulatory reporting and product stewardship services to industry.
