Sharon Welch, DVM, DABVT, DABT

Veterinary Toxicologist

Dr. Sherry Rippel (Welch) joined Pet Poison Helpline® and SafetyCall International in July 2010. Sherry received her BS and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees from the University of Illinois. After graduating from veterinary school, she practiced in a mixed animal practice. Her interest in toxicology led her to another animal poison control center , where she was employed for 12 years as Consulting Veterinarian in Clinical Toxicology/Senior Toxicologist. During that time, she also became co-owner of a local animal emergency clinic. In 2008, Dr. Rippel became a diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Toxicology. In 2009 she became a diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology. She has published several abstracts and journal articles, and has authored numerous chapters in several veterinary textbooks. Dr. Rippel currently resides near the Twin Cities. In her spare time she enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband, family and pets.
