ARE GRAPES OK FOR DOGS?

Grapes are universally enjoyed by humans, but they are highly toxic for dogs. Grapes provide health benefits for humans because they are packed with antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. However, grapes can be dangerous for canine consumption, as they can cause gastrointestinal issues, kidney failure, and even death. The best way to keep your dog safe is to keep them away from grapes altogether. While grapes may be a tasty treat for us, they are not suitable for our furry friends.

Dangers of Dogs Eating Grapes

The exact cause of grape toxicity in dogs is still unknown, but what is certain is that these fruits can be hazardous for your pup. Eating grapes can lead to acute kidney failure and dehydration in dogs. Unfortunately, there is no antidote to this condition and supportive care is the only option. Furthermore, the effects of the toxin may not become evident until three days after consumption. If you suspect your dog has eaten grapes, it is important to seek medical attention as soon as possible, as the longer you wait, the more severe the symptoms can become.
