Toxicity to pets
Ingestion of raisins or grapes by companion animals can result in gastrointestinal distress (e.g., vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea) followed rapidly by kidney injury and failure. Tartaric acid contained in grapes/ raisins is the suspected toxin, however, has not yet been proven. Poisoning is primarily reported in dogs.
