Star of Bethlehem contains cardiac glycoside plant toxins throughout the plant and predominantly in the bulb. Ingestion of this plant by animals most often results in gastrointestinal distress with vomiting and loss of appetite. Large ingestions can lead to more severe signs including changes in heart rate and rhythm, weakness, and collapse.
