Toxicity to pets
Tick collars/ Flea and tick collars contain variable insecticidal chemicals that kill fleas and ticks and, with proper use, cause the least harm to other animals and the environment. Improper use involves ingestion of a flea and tick collar or use of a flea and tick collar meant for one species upon a different type of animal (e.g. applying a collar meant for a dog to a cat). Clinical signs of flea and tick collar poisoning are dependent upon the specific chemical, the concentration of that chemical, the species of animal, and the type of exposure (oral or skin). Common clinical signs of flea and tick collar poisoning include are nausea, drooling, vomiting, and lethargy, but may also include tremor, seizure, collapse, and death with severe poisoning.
