Ahna Brutlag, DVM, MS (Toxicology)
Dr. Ahna Brutlag is the Assistant Director of Veterinary Services and has been with the organization since 2004. She received her veterinary degree from the University of Minnesota. Currently, she is preparing for board-certification examinations from the American Board of Veterinary Toxicology (ABVT) and American Board of Toxicology (ABT). She recently completed a Master’s of Science degree in toxicology at the University of Minnesota (2011) and a professional externship at California Animal Health and Food Safety Laboratory at the University of California, Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. She is one of four consulting editors for the toxicology textbook Five-Minute Veterinary Consult Clinical Companion: Small Animal Toxicology. Dr. Brutlag has authored multiple textbook chapters and has lectured throughout North America in the field of small animal toxicology. The primary focus of her publications and presentations include rodenticide toxicosis, toxic plants, common pharmaceutical poisonings, and the safety of household products. She prefers to spend her free time reading fiction, expanding her culinary palate, and traveling in the northeastern US.
