Autumn crocus is a fall-blooming flower grown from bulbs. All parts of the plant contain alkaloid toxins including colchicine. Ingestion of Autumn crocus – either fresh or dried – results in severe poisoning causing gastrointestinal signs, organ failure, shock, blood cell abnormalities, and death.
