Toxicity to pets
Holly plant contains saponin plant toxins. Ingestion of holly leaves/ berries by companion animals results in nausea with vomiting and diarrhea. Physical/ painful injury to the lips and gums of pets can occur secondary to chewing the spiky leaves.
