Toxicity to pets
Sago Palm contains cycasin, a highly toxic plant chemical. Ingestion of any part of the plant, especially the seed (or nut), may result in severe gastrointestinal distress (e.g., vomiting, diarrhea, bloody vomitus), nervous system disturbance (e.g., stumbling gait, weakness, seizure), organ failure (e.g., liver), and death.
Similar plants that result in the above life-threatening poisoning if ingested include the Coontie Plant and Cardboard Palm.
