Toxicity to pets
Antihistamines are used commonly in both human and veterinary medicine for control of upper respiratory and dermal allergies. Accidental overdose of antihistamines by dogs and cats can result in neurological/cardiovascular depression or hyperstimulation and gastrointestinal distress. Clinical signs may be mild to severe depending upon the specific antihistamine ingested and the exposure dosage.
