Meghann Jerden, DVM

Associate Veterinarian

I grew up on a farm in Shobonier, IL and worked at a rural mixed animal clinic as the Office Manager for 7 years before continuing my education.

I received my undergraduate degree at Greenville University in Greenville, IL with a major in Environmental Biology. During this time, I also completed a behavior research internship at the Saint Louis Zoo. The internship involved observing and recording the social behaviors of the Grevy’s Zebra herd as well as various antelope mothers with their newborns. I attended veterinary school at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. While there, I enjoyed working at the Veterinary Diagnostic Lab in the Histology department.

I love working with all species of animals and the people I meet in rural practice. I have a particular interest in small ruminant medicine and surgery. My pets include a Basset Hound named Fred, a Painted Turtle named Mr. Turtle, and three cats named Melvin, Mia, and Baby Kitten. I enjoy raising chickens, geese, and goats on my mini farm in Effingham, IL. I also run a plant business called The Plant Shak and sell at the local farmer’s market. In addition to veterinary medicine, my interests include boating, fishing, camping, gardening, and playing video games.

Prior to joining the team at SCI/PPH, I practiced as an associate veterinarian for 5yrs in mixed animal practice.
