ARE VAPES BAD FOR DOGS?

Vapes, or electronic cigarettes, have become increasingly popular over the past few years. Unfortunately, many people are unaware of the potentially deadly dangers that vapes can pose to their beloved pets. Dogs are particularly vulnerable to the toxic chemicals present in vape smoke and vape liquids, which can cause serious injuries and even death. Read below to learn about the dangers of vapes to dogs and what to do if your pup is exposed.

What are Vapes?

Vapes are devices that use a battery to heat a nicotine-containing liquid solution, known as e-juice or e-liquid, which is then inhaled. Vapes come in many shapes and sizes, from small, pen-sized devices to larger, more complex models. They are often used as an alternative to traditional cigarettes and cigars. Vapes are popular for their convenience and ability to produce large clouds of vapor. Vapes can be extremely dangerous to pets because of the chemicals contained in the vapor. Inhaling the smoke from a vape can be toxic to dogs and can cause serious health problems.

Why are Vapes Dangerous to Dogs?

Vapes contain nicotine, and nicotine can be highly toxic to dogs. Ingesting even small amounts of nicotine can cause symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea, increased heart rate, seizures, tremors, and in severe cases, death. In addition, the liquid used in vapes can contain other toxins and chemicals that can be harmful to dogs. If a dog ingests vape liquid, it can cause serious damage to the gastrointestinal tract, liver, and kidneys. Therefore, it is important to keep vapes out of reach of your dog, and to seek immediate veterinary care if your dog ingests any vape liquid.
