Toxicity to pets
Grazing livestock that consume large amounts of delphinium develop nervous system signs of weakness and stumbling gait plus bloating, difficulty breathing, and death. Because dogs and cats usually ingest much smaller amounts of delphinium their signs are milder and include lethargy, vomiting, and diarrhea.
