Toxicity to pets
All parts of this plant contain toxic alkaloids which act similarly to the drug atropine. Ingestion of plant material can cause gastrointestinal upset, dilated pupils, elevated heart rate, flushing of the skin, decreased gastrointestinal tract motility (constipation), and neurologic abnormalities.
