Toxicity to pets

Pine oil is an herbal extract of the Pinus spp tree. This fragrant essential oil is highly toxic when ingested by animals or humans. Cats are especially sensitive to this product. Ingestion of small volumes of concentrated pine oil can cause severe gastrointestinal injury (e.g., vomiting, bloody vomitus), neurological signs (e.g., seizure), cardiopulmonary failure (e.g., low blood pressure, fluid in lungs), organ failure (e.g., liver, kidney), and death.
