Snowdrops contain plant alkaloids lycorine and galanthamine throughout the plant; Snowdrop bulbs contain the highest concentration of these toxic compounds. Ingestion of Snowdrops by companion animals results in gastrointestinal distress (e.g. drooling, vomiting, diarrhea).
