Toxicity to pets
The yucca plant, which commonly grows in warm climates, contains steroidal saponins. In dogs and cats, it typically causes only mild vomiting and diarrhea and possibly pupil dilation. In grazing animals who may chronically ingest it, this plant may also cause liver and kidney signs. The sharp points on the leaves may cause mechanical injury to skin or GI tract.
