As the temperatures increase in the spring and summertime, so too do the number of backyard barbeques, pool parties, and firework shows. These gatherings are fun occasions but for our dogs and cats, they may pose a number of toxicity risks. We will examine items common at warm weather gatherings- sunscreen, insecticide, fireworks, pool chemicals, grill cleaners, and tiki torch/lighter fluid. We will discuss their mechanisms of toxicity, how to avoid toxicity in our pets, and how to treat companion animals who have been exposed.
