About Michelle Lake:
Michelle Lake is the founder and operator of the Wildlife Intensive & Critical Care Unit. (WICCU). The WICCU is a small 501c3 not for profit organization devoted to helping injured and orphaned wildlife. She has been a certified veterinary technician for over twenty-five years and has a specialty certification in emergency and critical care. She saw she could meet a need and she combined her wildlife skills with her veterinary technician skills to start the organization. The WICCU started in 2011 and received the 501c3 status in 2014. All of her efforts are volunteer and all donations go to the animals and the organization. Michelle works to provide nursing care to wildlife with injuries, goes out on wildlife rescues, and does community education events for churches, schools, wildlife and veterinary conferences. She holds Master level wildlife rehabilitation and migratory bird permits with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service and Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. She is active in a variety of other areas within the veterinary community and animal rescue. She loves working at the garden center, volunteering at her church and hanging out with her patient and wonderful husband and their furry and feathered family.
